Day excursion to  Kaikoura by coach with Whale Watch tour by boat. (Note : only partial refund will be made if Whale Watch tour is cancelled due to weather condition or if no whales are sighted once the tour has commenced.)

An exciting day as you are driven along 90 Miles Beach and the Te Paki quicksand stream. Have the chance to surf down the massive sand dunes. Onto Cape Reinga’s for spectacular view of 2 oceans merging. Lunch is included.

Visit to a factory processing century old kauri wood dug out from the swamp. Walk amongst huge Kauri trees at Puketi Forest.

 

DAY 4: Bay of Islands-Auckland  (B)

This morning enjoy the scenic Cape Brett and Piercy Island ` Hole in the Rock’ cruise in the bay . Chance to encounter dolphins and occassional whales. Take a tour to Kerikeri township to see some very historic buildings like the Stone Store and Kemp House. Visits to some of the local arts and crafts. Rejoin Great Sights coach back  to Auckland.

Enter Fiordland National Park along Eglington Valley and travel through Homer Tunnel to reach Milford Sounds. This is reputed as the prettiest drive in the country with amazing mountain scenery all the way. Enjoy the cruise on the spectacular world famous fiords dominated by Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls.  Retrace the journey back to Queenstown

Enjoy a free day in Queenstown. Apart from beautiful scenery surrounding the resort, this is also the capital of adventure tourism.  Why not try thrilling jetboating or heart-stopping bungy jump? A gondola ride up Bob’s Peak for panoramic view couple with a luge ride is recommended. Or simply relax and enjoy the scene!!

 

DAY 5: Queenstown-Mt Cook-Christchurch  (B)

Pick up by Great Sights coach and return to Christchurch via Mt Cook National Park travel through the Central Otago region to Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook National Park Village. Set at the foothill of the Alps, you have a close up view of Mt Cook-the highest mountain in the country. Descend the mountains and re-cross the Canterbury Plains to arrive Christchurch .in the evening

Join InterCity coach for journey across the Canterbury Plains to Ashburton. Then follow the coastal road to the port city of Timaru. Continue southward to historic Oamaru with it’s impressive stone buildings. Arrive into the Scottish influence city of Dunedin approximately 2pm. Rest of the day free at leisure on arrival. Suggest you  explore the city centre – “Octagon”.

 

DAY 3: Dunedin-Queenstown   (B)

Morning transfer to the train station to board the historic Taieri Gorge train to Pukerangi. Built from 1879-1891 the track snakes along the gorge plunging into a series of tunnels, crossing magnificent stone and wrought iron viaducts and bridges. Gasp at the sheer drops to the river below ! Disembark at Pukerangi and continue to Queenstown by coach.

Pick up by Great Sights coach and return to Christchurch via Mt Cook National Park travel through the Central Otago region to Lake Pukaki and Mount Cook National Park Village. Set at the foothill of the alps, you have a close up view of Mt Cook.the highest mountain  in the country. Descend the mountains and re-cross the Canterbury Plains to arrive in Christchurch in the evening..

 

DAY 11: Christchurch  (B)

Pick up by Canterbury Leisure Tour coach for  morning city tour covering Cathedral Square, Bridge of Remembrance, Avon River Art’s Centre and museum. See beautiful Mona Vale Garden , Hagley Park and from the Sign of the Takahe, you have .a spectacular view over the city, Canterbury Plains to the Alps.  Afternoon free.

 

DAY 12: Depart Christchurch  (B)

DAY 3: Queenstown-Milford Sound  (B/D)

Follow the Lake Wakatipu to Lumsden and then onward to Lake Te Anau. Enter the spectacular Eglington Valley and travel through Homer Tunnel to reach Milford Sounds. Board the up-market Milford Mariner  cruise on the spectacular world famous fiords dominated by Mitre Peak and Bowen Falls.  Travel the full length of the fiord and weather permitting, experience sailing in the Tasman Sea for a period before returning to anchor overnight at sheltered Harrison Cove. Activities includes kayaking and exploring the shoreline.  Hearty buffet dinner served on board

 

DAY 4: Milford Sound-Queenstown  (B)

Following breakfast, there is further cruising before returning to Milford Wharf. Coach back to Queenstown arriving mid afternoon.  Rest of the day free.

Join InterCity coach for journey across the Canterbury Plains to Ashburton. Then follow the coastal road to the port city of Timaru. Continue southward to historic Oamaru with it’s impressive stone buildings. Arrive into the Scottish influence city of Dunedin approximately 2pm. Rest of the day free at leisure on arrival. Suggest you  explore the city centre – “Octagon”.

 

DAY 3: Dunedin-Queenstown   (B)

Morning transfer to the train station to board the historic Taieri Gorge train to Pukerangi. Built from 1879-1891 the track snakes along the gorge plunging into a series of tunnels, crossing magnificent stone and wrought iron viaducts and bridges. Gasp at the sheer drops to the river below ! Disembark at Pukerangi and continue to Queenstown by coach.

Transfer to the train station and board the famed Tranz Alpine train across the Alps to Greymouth. Snake across rich farmland and along the shore of the mighty snow fed Waimakariri River, you climb slowly into the spine of the Southern Alps. Cross numerous viaducts high across river ravines to Arthur’s Pass township. Plunge into Otira Tunnel to emerge on the western side of the mountains. Pass small farming hamlets and beautiful Lake Brunner to arrive at Greymouth. Board the InterCity coach and continue to glacier township arriving late afternoon.

 

DAY 3:  Glacier-Queenstown  (B)

Wake up to the sound of bird chirps and refreshing quiet atmosphere of this township. Marvel at the massive bush clad ,

mountain rising steeply just  beyond the highway. Board Newmans’ coach  and travel along the narrow strip of land border by the Tasman sea and high mountains to Haast. Follow the Haast River upstream to re-cross the alpine range at Haast Pass. Then along the shores of Lakes Wanaka and Hawea, you soon reach Wanaka and Queenstown. A very scenic journey indeed.
